In 2023 Newcastle Grammar School formed a partnership with Explore & Develop Newcastle East to connect our NGS families with a quality early learning program and to assist with transition to Kindergarten. This partnership was then extended in 2024 to include Explore & Develop King Street.
Explore and Develop supports children to have a positive start to school life promoting children’s health and wellbeing, building resilience, developing confidence and children’s communication skills. Through these partnerships, children, families, early learning professionals and the NGS Preschool Liaison Officer collaborate to ensure that every child is known and to ensure a positive transition to school.
Connections to community are built and relationships are formed through participation in specialist lessons such as Mandarin and literacy programs with Year 5 students. A connected community helps to provide a supportive and inclusive foundation to allow the children to grow in their social and emotional wellbeing and feel a sense of belonging as they commence their schooling.
Entry from Explore & Develop Newcastle East and King Street to Newcastle Grammar School in Kindergarten is prioritised following a successful enrolment interview at NGS.
