On Thursday 25 April, the Newcastle Grammar School student leaders were privileged to participate in significant community commemorations to mark ANZAC Day — a time of national reflection and remembrance.

Representing NGS at two key events: the Dawn Service at Nobbys Beach where Year 12 Captains and Vice Captains, Molly, Shanuk, Shilpi and Jack spoke and laid the wreaths. Their participation reflected the School’s commitment to honouring the courage, resilience and camaraderie that are synonymous with the ANZAC spirit.
ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the Gallipoli landing in 1915 — the first major military action by Australian and New Zealand forces during World War I. Today, it continues to stand as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made in times of war and peace, fostering a deep sense of national pride and unity across generations.
Newcastle Grammar School further honoured these sacrifices during our own ANZAC Services, held during the first week of Term 2. These important ceremonies provide students with the opportunity to reflect on the extraordinary bravery and selflessness of those who fought to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. It is a time for our community to come together, to remember, and to ensure that the lessons of the past continue to guide our hopes for a peaceful future.
Lest we forget.
