Newcastle Grammar School offers the opportunity for outstanding young students to apply for scholarships in such areas as Academics, Creative Arts and Sport. Secondary Years scholarships take the form of partial remission of tuition fees and are available to Australian citizens and permanent residents. Scholarship places are reviewed each year.

Eligibility
- Applications are invited from internal students and students not currently enrolled at Newcastle Grammar School. All applicants, regardless of the Scholarship type must:
- Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Students currently holding a NGS scholarship cannot reapply
- Register for and sit the Academic Assessment Services (AAS) examination.
- Complete an NGS Application for Enrolment (Non NGS students only)
- Attend a School Tour, except for existing NGS students.
Specialist scholarships may have additional eligibility requirements including auditions or portfolio submissions. View the details here.
Application Fee for external and internal students
An application fee of $150.00 is required for both external and internal NGS students. The payment is to be paid online directly to Academic Assessment Services when registering for the AAS examination.
Length of Scholarships
Scholarships awardees usually maintain their Scholarship for the remainder of their enrolment at NGS or the period of Scholarship offered upon commencement.
However, all places are subject to an annual formal review by the School, who will consider the progress, performance and attitude of the holder.
How to Apply
Step 1: External students only
Complete NGS enrolment application (if not already done so) here
Step 2: Register for the AAS Examination
Step 3: School Tour Attendance
Register and attend a School Tour here (not valid for existing NGS students)
Step 4: Sit the AAS Examination
All applications, regardless of the scholarship they are applying for, must complete the test.
Step 5: If shortlisted, attend an interview
After the examination, a short list of applicants will be created and these applicants will be invited to the School for an interview with one of the Executive Staff members. Unsuccessful candidates will receive a letter by mail as soon as possible after all offers have been made.
Step 6: Accept the Offer
Accept the scholarship, if offered, and pay the non-refundable Entry Fee.
