In Years 5 and 6 at Newcastle Grammar School, students work with our Primary teaching staff in a dedicated area of the Hill Campus. This space allows for a learning environment best-suited to the senior primary years, reflects our approach to upper primary education and allows for a gentle transition to the secondary years. Teachers focus on further development of literacy and numeracy skills as well as inquiry-based learning in Science, History and Geography.
Our flexible and contemporary learning spaces, with modular furniture and varied workspace options, give students the autonomy to choose their own seating arrangements according to their preferences. This allows a mix of social, collaborative and independent learning, so that students can discover the techniques that help them learn best and helps them take ownership in their own learning journey. It also supports relationship-building with peers and prepares them for the move to secondary school structures.
