Facilities

Newcastle Grammar School provides well-equipped facilities across two historic campuses in the heart of Newcastle. We aim to make learning engaging, meaningful and connected, and to equip students with confidence that they can achieve and excel.

Park Campus — Kindergarten to Year 4

Students at Park Campus learn in an environment that is warm, friendly and supportive, ensuring a feeling of safety and security in their formative years of education. Park Campus at Cooks Hill has purpose-built facilities and play areas appropriate for our youngest students.

This campus is also home to the Sandi Warren Performance Centre, used by the whole School for music and drama productions, Kindergarten to Year 6 assemblies and physical education classes.

Park Campus is currently undergoing a major transformation to create a world-class educational environment that encourages Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) and inquiry-based learning.

The first stage of development, which is now underway, includes a three-storey building along Union Street with a new ground floor outdoor learning and play space and a rooftop play area. Once complete, this state-of-the-art campus will cater for all students from Kindergarten to Year 6, including an estimated extra 150 enrolment places. Read more about the redevelopment here.

Hill Campus – Years 5 to 12

The Hill Campus offers specialist classrooms appropriate to each subject and stage of student development. Year 5 and 6 classes operate in flexible, technology-rich learning areas and enjoy their own outdoor play spaces. The facility allows staff and students to engage with learning pedagogies that encourage individual academic growth.

Years 7 to 12 enjoy technology-enabled general-purpose classrooms and subject specific spaces for Science, iSTEM, Music, Design and Technology, Languages and Food Technology. Our Library is open from 8.00am to 5.30pm each day.

In addition, students have access to the Bolton Street Creative and Performing Arts Centre, providing specialised facilities for Drama and Visual Arts, just a short walk from the Hill Campus. The heritage listed Horbury Hunt Hall is used for assemblies, while Chapel services are held in the historic Christ Church Cathedral. Students also utilise the wide range of exceptional local sporting facilities.
